Public Land Survey System (PLSS) - Nationwide
1:24,000 & 1:100,000 Land Grid

The Public Land Survey System (Land Grid) is described in terms of Section,
Township, and Range, and is the standard way of describing land for the 29
states outside of Texas and the 13 original colonies. The US elected to give
away pieces of land as a way to compensate soldiers after the Revolutionary War.
The PLSS was developed as a standard, consistent framework in which to organize
and subdivide these properties. Numbering of sections went from east to west and
then alternating to west to east in the next row. This system of notation is
know as boustrophedonic (Grk.), meaning "turning like oxen in plowing". The PLSS
is commonly used to describe real property such as well locations, pipelines,
and lease and parcel property lines. Many One-Call/911 Systems and emergency
management organizations also utilize the PLSS in their work. PGC has Nationwide
1:24,000 and 1:100,000 Scale datasets available. Data is attributed with
Section Numbers, Township and Range Numbers, Township and Range Directions, and
Meridian. PGC also can provide Federal Lots/Tracts and
Sub-Survey data if your work requires more detail. Additionally, PGC has
available the Canadian Land Grid the Provinces of
Alberta and Saskatchewan.

Texas Land Survey System (TLSS)

If you do any land work in Texas, you know that the survey system here is far from the straightforward Public Land Survey System described above. Texas has been under the control of several governments in its history, and each government used its own unique way of partitioning land. As a result, the Texas Land Survey system
is composed of Abstracts, several types of Surveys, Blocks and Subdivisions.
This 1:24,000 Scale data set is an essential layer for mapping projects in
Texas.

Digital Orthophotography Quarter Quads (DOQQs) - 1
Meter Aerial Photos

PGC has available the entire United States 1-Meter Resolution Digital Ortho
Quarter Quad dataset. We have renamed these quads to conform to standard USGS
naming conventions for ease of use. This data can also be customized to your
particular area and application at a very low cost. Data can be provided in the
same projection/coordinate system your project is in. DOQQ data is the only choice when it comes to qualifying your other digital data sets. There will be no question as to the accuracy of your other data when compared to an actual picture of the ground from an airplane.

Aerial Photos flown in 2006/2005! 1 Meter resolution is available for Colorado,
Utah, Wyoming, Montana, North Dakota, California, and Oregon. These County Based GeoTiff files are
delivered on DVDs and can be projected into your desired coordinate system.
Counties will be neatly partitioned into a series of smaller, indexed files so
images are manageable in any mapping program. Prices start at $500.00 for
a County. This is a great option to cover Basins and Large Areas of
Interest at very affordable costs.
You can download a sample of a portion of Galveston County at

National Elevation Data (NED/DEM) and Surface
Contours

The USGS has recently completed its upgrade from the old and outdated Digital Elevation Model (DEM) to the new National Elevation Data set. NED is designed to provide elevation data in a seamless form with a consistent datum, elevation unit, and projection. Most problems that existed in the DEM data, such as edge-matching issues, have gone away. NED is simply a grid of elevation points that are either 30 meters or 10 meters apart. With this data, a user has the ability to do detailed analysis of any terrain in the US. Unlike hypsography (contour lines), this data allows the user to create provides the user freedom to created his/her own contour interval, hillshades, line of sight profiles, and viewsheds. This data can be delivered in a variety of formats to suite your software's needs.

Gulf of Mexico Data

One of the many responsibilities of The Mineral Management Service (MMS) is to manage petroleum resources in the Gulf of Mexico. As a product of this obligation, the MMS provides us with an updated set of data for offshore Gulf of Mexico areas. This data includes offshore blocks, lease boundaries, shipping lanes, oil/gas platforms, and well information.

Custom Digital Data Sets

If you need something you don’t see, PGC can produce custom datasets for your
specific requirements. Examples include enhancing, organizing, and converting
public domain data and/or proprietary data; building land parcels; developing
digital oil/gas lease polygons, converting hardcopy maps to digital data, etc.

|
Surface
Geologic Data

PGC provides geologic map data comprised of a combination of lines, symbols, and
colors to show the composition and structure of earth materials and their
distribution across and beneath the Earth's surface. This kind of general
geologic information is used to find natural resources such as water, minerals,
oil, and gas; evaluate potential hazards such as earthquakes, landslides,
floods, and volcanic eruptions
